Sky watching

We pledge to fight ‘blue-sky thinking’ wherever we find it.  Life would be dull if we had to look up at cloudless monotony day after day.

Yesterday I sat out on the dock for a while watching the remnants of Thursday’s storms roll by overhead.

There was a lovely, cool and gusty breeze moving the clouds along at a fast clip.

Today there is barely a cloud in the sky.  Just the a few little puffy cotton balls showing up every now and then.

There’s something beautiful about keeping certain aspects of your life hidden.  Maybe people and clouds are beautiful because you can’t see everything.

Going…

Because I have a cold with an agonizingly sore throat, it seemed to me the best thing I could do yesterday was pay a visit to Chesapeake Bay Farms and sample their ice cream.  Ever since having my tonsils out when I was a child, I’ve known that ice cream is the best thing ever for a sore throat.  All the adults told me so.

…going…

I believe the adults were right.  I had the Coconut Joy ice cream, and did experience joy while eating it.  The taste was amazing, almost buttery, and the cold soothed my throat.  I understand that dairy products will add to congestion when one has a cold, but I don’t seem any worse for it.

Going, going...
Almost…

I highly recommend a visit to Chesapeake Bay Farms if you’re ever in the area.  The ice cream is decadently delicious, and they have cute cow benches outside the store.  Who can resist a cute cow bench?  Not me, that’s for sure.

...gone.

Here’s the funky looking view of the clouds:

I’m not terribly good with the panoramic feature on my camera because I can’t see well enough to match things up.  I usually wind up with squiggly looking land.  But the clouds are pretty cool, don’t you think?

That’s it from the Wabi-Sabi Ranch for today.  Thank you for visiting, and joining me in some sky watching.  I hope your weekend has been going well so far, and that you’ve found time to relax and play.

  1. Cloud watching is one of my favourite passtimes too Robin. When I was out feeding the birds around 7am this morning I noticed the clouds had like a checkered pattern throughout them, so pretty.

Take care of that throat! You may just have to go try another flavour of icecream. 🙂

  2. My weekend has been extra-special because a certain little letter came in the mailbox from the Wabi-Sabi Ranch. I devoured the letter walking between the mailbox and the house and maybe, just maybe, will write you a snail mail reply sometime soon. I love the first picture and can see why you would like to make an art project with the window. As for ice cream, broke down today and bought a Dairy Queen Snickers blizzard. OK, just a mini. Sounds like yours was real good!

    1. So glad it arrived, Kathy. 🙂 Write, don’t write, soon, late, however and whenever you desire. That’s the beauty of it. A Snickers blizzard sounds yummy.

  3. Beautiful sky pictures, and I really liked that thoughtful quote at the beginning of the post — I had never looked at it that way before! You’re not the only one who hasn’t quite mastered the panoramic photo yet (hand up). The day lilies were a wonderful splash of orange to add to your post this day!

  4. Hope you are feeling better today. Ice cream definitely can work magic as far as I am concerned. Next time you go to that farm, will you take a picture of the cow benches for me? I’m sure I couldn’t resist them either! 🙂
