Home again, home again.  It’s good to be here.  Storms are coming as I type.  We followed them home through Ohio, through the mountains of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and western Maryland, and then over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to the Eastern Shore.

The rain on Thursday was incredible.  We saw on the news that some areas in western Maryland got between seven and nine inches of rain as the storms trained through on Thursday.

Here at home, the gardens and lawn are overgrown.  M and I will have our work cut out for us this weekend.  The good news is that the vegetables in the garden are growing as fast and furious as the weeds.  All we have to do is sort them all out.

The cats, Izzy and Bella, are happy to see us although they are remaining nonchalant about it.  I’m happy to see them, too, and glad to know all is well here at the Wabi-Sabi Ranch.

It was a dark and stormy morning.

The rabbits on the property do what rabbits do.  They multiplied.  I can’t believe how many bunnies are running about the place.  Maybe it’s because the lawn is overgrown with clover.  They seem to like clover.

Foggy

Now our task is to get caught up.  That will probably take all weekend.  For now, we’re relaxing and settling back in after what seems like a long trip.  Funny how time works.  It went so fast when I was with family and friends, but the road trip itself, especially coming home, seems long and fraught with peril.

I exaggerate.  A little.  There were the heavy rains, the fog, the crazy drivers who don’t slow down no matter what the conditions are, the crazier drivers on the phone while they’re driving, the truck carrying a huge load of slabs of granite that was weaving around so much we thought for sure there would be an accident, more rain, more fog, and a lot of traffic in the Annapolis area where the speed limit isn’t obeyed or enforced as far as I can tell.

We picked up lunch but didn’t take the time to eat it.  We decided it was best to just go home, and have a late lunch there.  It was a good decision.  Friday beach traffic can be pretty bad as the day goes on.  We missed most of that, thank goodness.

Lowering clouds

I’m going to go sit on the porch now and watch the storms roll in.  Thank you for visiting.  Depending on what the storms do, sunset tonight might be pretty interesting.  Meet you on the porch and we’ll watch from there.  That way we’ll have shelter if it does rain.  The insects are surprisingly absent, or were when I was out earlier.  Hopefully the fireflies will be out, twinkling their magic in the grasses.
