So it is, Jane. And if you look closely, you’ll see two other flowers in there (buttercups and I’m not sure what the purple flowers are).

Hi I see but don’t know the purple flowers either, perhaps iris by their size. Again, great photo. Makes me wonder if the paint brush is targeting a different pollinator, something that flies high!

Thank you, Eliza. 🙂 I’d never seen hawkweed until we moved to NE Ohio (in my 40’s). I always put off mowing the lawn until after the hawkweed and violets bloomed. Now it seems to be everywhere. We have it here, too.
