You never hear people put it this way, and I don’t intend to start a trend, but when we consider the ever-evolving process of a person’s thinking, the way a person imagines and organizes the world, it could almost seem appropriate to ask each other from time to time, How’s your religion coming along? How’s it going? Born again, or the same old, same old? Did you successfully distinguish darkness from light in the course of your day? Is there a fever in your mind that won’t go away? Mind if I prescribe a poem?

The rains and winds keep coming and going as they have throughout the winter. Warm fronts and cold fronts collide. Eventually the front arriving shoves aside the front moving out. Another day goes by and the pendulum swings back. Warm to cold, cold to warm. Only one good snow storm so far this season.
The crocuses and daffodils don’t seem to mind the weather’s mood swings. They are determined to do what they always do. Springing up from the ground they remind us that change is a constant, and that seasons will come and seasons will go. This year’s flowers rise and bloom, replacing last year’s flowers just as last year’s flowers replaced those of the year before, and so on and so forth.
We have had some lovely sunrises and sunsets. One was particularly spectacular but you’ll have to take my word for it. I did take pictures, but I am unable to show it to you. I reformatted the memory card in my camera without checking to see if I had uploaded everything, and erased them. Ah well. I have my own memories of the event. I sometimes think I should practice a more ephemeral form of photography. Take the pictures and let them go.
I’ve been meandering around the internet a little, looking for bright spots. Here are a few I found recently:
- Driving into the storm (a piece by Garrison Keillor in the Washington Post)
- Katrina Kenison asks How is your heart today?
- Your Joy is Too Small (at Find Your Middle Ground)
- Trusting Our Awakening Heart
It has been raining for a good part of the day, and I haven’t actually gone out for my daily walk yet. The rain has finally stopped and the sky is beginning to brighten. I’ll probably get up and go soon. Then it will be time to finish folding the laundry and start dinner. I found a pasta and cabbage recipe that sounds interesting. It’s not a low-fat type of thing because it calls for heavy cream and butter, but I think it’s good to indulge in things like cream and butter every now and then. Life is too short to be saying no all the time.
Thank you for joining me on another walk. I’m going to the Point to see what sunset has in store for us today. Even on our rainiest days this past week, the clouds have parted so that we could see something of the setting sun. It’s scheduled for 5:42 PM. Meet me there if you have the time. We can walk a little, talk a little, or just enjoy the view in silence.
Be good, be kind, be loving. Just Be. 🙂
A few of the 10,000 reasons to be happy: 121) The beauty and variety of clouds. 122) Purple and orange crocuses cheerfully scattered throughout the lawn near the scrounger’s garden. 123) Daily walks. 124) Vegetable soup and M’s company for lunch. 125) The tans, golds, and browns of the meadow grasses.
A shame about your photos – but I guess it is a good lesson in impermanence. Thanks for the links – we need them!

We don’t have crocuses yet. Another reason why I suspect we have at least one more snow storm coming before spring.

I hope you enjoyed your walk. The sunset here last night was beautiful and dramatic.
Your pasta and cabbage dish sounds interesting. I agree that we need to indulge ourselves occasionally. I especially like the waiting for the storm photo.
I’m sure we will have more crocuses up by the weekend! 🙂

There are small wild daffodils here in Alabama, blooming all over, generally at the sites of old homesteads. No house, just a lot of daffodils blooming. It’s pretty here at the moment. Mostly sunny, kind of warm. Time to take the dog out and find another place for a walk. Your crocus are beautiful!

It always feels like a disaster to lose photos. At least the ones you got downloaded are so beautiful. Definitely very spring-like.

Cannot believe your crocuses are already popping up. Of course, we got a good foot of snow yesterday. Oh well… in due time! I will definitely check out the links tomorrow as I am trying to hit the hay early tonight and get rid of this nasty cold that has me in its grip since last Thursday.
Always love your walks, Robin!
