  1. Oooooh! Asparagus already. Ours don’t start poking up until May. Can’t wait. Nothing like eating them fresh from the ground. Ours are wild. Yours? Love you flowering tree too!

    1. Thank you, Mary. 🙂 I think ours was planted by the people who built the house (the original owners), but I’m not sure. It’s a large bed and at its peak, puts out enough asparagus to feed several families. The asparagus is early this year. Last year it didn’t poke spears up until around April 13.

        1. I like it roasted or grilled (for roasted, just rub a little olive oil on them, some salt & pepper if you like, and then pop them in a 400°F oven for 10-15 minutes depending on how thick they are, and if they’re really thin, check them every 5 minutes; I like them with a little crunch left to them so I am careful not to overcook). I also like to lightly steam them (about 2-3 mins.) and them marinate ’em in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, then serve at room temp or slightly chilled. Oh! And I have a great asparagus pesto recipe, too. And there’s asparagus with lemon soup and… lol! It’s like Bubba Gump shrimp (from “Forrest Gump”) when it comes to asparagus around here. I had a large asparagus bed in Ohio, too, so I learned to be creative with it. For about six weeks, we eat A LOT of asparagus. About the time it finishes, we’ve had quite enough, thank you. 😀
