Tuesday

Visiting the butterfly bush.
Visiting the butterfly bush.

Well, my friends give me purple flowers and orange tea
And goosedown spinning quilts and turquoise chairs
We greet one another in a wild profusion of words
And wave farewell amidst the wonderment of air
In the laughing times we know we are lucky
In the quiet times we know that we are blessed
And we will not be alone

Hello!  How are you?  I hope all is well.  I thought we might take a little hike around time and space, and get caught up.  This will probably end up being a lot like a coffee share.  The past week or so has been filled with friends and laughter and all sorts of good things.

We just spent a great weekend with great friends.  We hung out here at the ranch, we went for a hike, we spent some time at the beach, ate out a few times, saw a sunset or two, and we enjoyed each other’s company.

Friday's sunset.

Not all was perfect (for instance, we had some not-so-good beer at a local brew pub), but that’s okay.  It was a perfectly imperfect weekend, and I had a really good time.

It is quiet here on the ranch right now.  It was noisy earlier.  The farmers must be having their crops dusted again.  The little crop dusting plane was buzzing overhead like a giant bee.  (The Urban Dictionary claims the word for that sound is “Nyeeeeerm!”  If you say it out loud, it’s pretty close.)

I have been trying to work up the ambition to get up and do a few chores, but I feel lazy today.  It’s the kind of day when I want to sit back, relax, and let the weekend soak in before I get back into my regular routine.

Reflecting.

I’m not even sure I have the ambition for writing a blog post, to be honest.  I have spent a lot of time just staring at the screen, trying to figure out what to put between the images.  Maybe I should just let some of the images speak for themselves?

One more look at Friday's sunset before moving on to something else.

Or maybe I should move on, and wrap this up.  Perhaps my brain will start functioning better after I take a walk or a bike ride or do something to get a little exercise.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I’m thinking of going to the Point for sunset this evening.  Feel free to join me if you like.  Sunset is at 7:43 PM.

Today’s joys:  The purring of the cats; sorting through the images from the weekend; a beautiful card and note from friends; a lovely porch nap; ripe, juicy peaches.

  1. Gorgeous sunsets – must be something about your atmosphere! My breath caught when I saw your clear-wing moth and hummer photos – gollleee! They’re lovely. Sounds like you had a busy week and weekend so it’s good you are taking a break today. Rest is always a good move, at least in my book!

  2. It sounds like you just need to “wind down” after a fabulous visit with your friends, and that’s understandable. I think the essence of special, out of routine events leave us needing that down time, just to completely absorb what-has-been, before we can continue on with what-is.

I really enjoy seeing photos of your tiny humming birds. 🙂

  3. I would gladly be doing your chores at the moment (not to mention mine). It’s been almost a week now that I’ve been sitting on my tush with legs raised and scooting around on an office chair with wheels. I have some willing help, but it’s not quite like doing stuff yourself. It’s also very boring. Still six days to go before I’m told if I can put some weight on the healing foot.

    1. Happy to know you and Jeffrey, Chris. 😀 As for visiting when the bugs aren’t about, you’ll have to come in the middle of winter. Even then, there seem to be bugs somewhere. It’s crazy.
