It’s time for another edition of Cee’s Share Your World.  It’s hard to believe we’re up to Week 45 already.  Time is doing its usual thing and flying on by.

Cee’s first question is:  What is your favorite color?

Water from the deep blue sea.
Water from the deep blue sea.  (The wind and tide were at odds.  I snapped this just as a whirlpool was forming.)

I usually answer “purple” to that question, but lately I’ve been drawn to blue.  Dark blues, light blues, azure, cobalt blue, turquoise, indigo, electric blue, almost any blue.  Maybe it’s because most blues are calming, and I have needed a little soothing and calming.

Certain browns have been attractive to me lately, too.  I walked down to the stop sign this morning where there is a T in the road.  The house at the center of the upper portion of the T is one of many historic houses around here.  Lining the front along the street are a variety old trees, one of which is a bald cypress.  It has just started to turn the beautiful and hard to describe reddish-gold-brown of autumn.  One of these days (and I’d better do it soon), I’ll walk down that way with the camera and take a picture for you so you can see what I mean.

In what do you find the simplest of joys?

There are so many things that come to mind.  Family and friends, of course.  Walks and hikes.  The little things in nature that pop up and surprise me.  Breakfast with M on weekends because you never know what that will bring.

Popovers and ice cream and apples for breakfast! (M made popovers last weekend.)

Would you prefer a reading nook or an art, craft, photography studio?

Do I really have to choose?  Okay.  If you insist.  While a studio would be lovely just for the space of it (we’re still rather crowded here at the Wabi-Sabi Ranch until all the renovations are finished and we can finally say, “There is no room for this or this or this…”), I’m going to go with a reading nook.  My photography studio is the great outdoors, and on those occasions I want to make art or be crafty, I usually manage okay with the art desk or out in the garage, depending on how messy the project happens to be.

It’s hard not to waffle back and forth on this one because now that I think about it, I have a perfectly good reading nook on the back porch so maybe my fairy godmother will give me a studio instead.  Oooh!  I know!  How about a studio with a reading nook?  Or is that being too greedy?

This is almost the same color as the bald cypress tree.

What is the least one of your favorite quotes?*

This is a tough one.  I’m sure there must be some quote or saying that grates on my nerves or makes me roll my eyes, but nothing comes to mind at the moment unless you count “it is what it is” and other overused phrases as quotes.

*I’ve left this in as I originally posted it, but the real question is:

What is at least one of your favorite quotes?

One word wrong makes all the difference in meaning, doesn’t it?  This is one of my all-time favorite quotes:

Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon. A happiness weapon. A beauty bomb. And every time a crisis developed, we would launch one. It would explode high in the air — explode softly — and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air. Floating down to earth — boxes of Crayolas. And we wouldn’t go cheap, either — not little boxes of eight. Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in. With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest. And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world with imagination.

~ Robert Fulghum

One more for the occasion:

They’re funny things, Accidents. You never have them till you’re having them.
— Eeyore, Pooh’s Little Instruction Book, inspired by A. A. Milne

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for getting a few answers in regards to health matters last week, and I’m looking forward to possibly getting a few more this week.  Hopefully I’ve been asking the right questions, and getting answers from the right people.

The Bald Eagles are back.
The Bald Eagles are back.  I saw them on Saturday and managed to capture this one with the camera as it flew overhead.  There are four of them, and they were out chattering, whistling, and playing.

I’m also grateful for your visits.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  It’s a strange day here on the Eastern Shore.  Cloudy, dark, warm, and still.  It’s as if a storm is brewing, but hasn’t worked itself up enough to manifest yet.  According to the forecast, there’s a slight chance of rain, but no real storms.  It is going to get colder, with highs in the 40’s by the weekend.

Be good, be kind, be loving.  Just Be.  🙂

Today’s joys:  A warm day before the cold rushes in; Izzy the Cat running around here with one of her toys, bouncing it around; a popover with fruit (no ice cream today) for breakfast; a walk around the neighborhood; crossing off quite a few items on my to-do list for the week (and it’s only Tuesday!).

Author:

Robin is... too many things to list, but here is a start: an artist and writer; a photographer and saunterer; a daughter and sister and granddaughter; a friend, a partner, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother; a gardener, a great and imaginative cook, and the creator of wonderful sandwiches.

  1. Somehow the blue header and the top picture of the tree have design/shapes that are similar.
Who can pick a favorite color – maybe a favorite one to wear – but too hard to pick!
Go eagles! (apparently the migrating/arriving hawks are terrifying our doves…they sure are scarce right now after one hawk started sitting on the fence every morning…oh, the bird politics!)

    1. I agree about favorite colors, PhilosopherMouse. There are so many good ones, and sometimes one is better than others only because the day is different from others. Bird politics…lol! Yes, there does seem to be some of that. I am fairly certain the other animals converse (and argue) just as well and as much as we do. 🙂

    1. It’s a funny thing about colors, Carol. Maybe it depends on time of year or where we live. When I was living in the frozen tundra (heh) of northeast Ohio, warm colors drew me in. As soon as the heat hit me here, I wanted nothing but the coolest of colors. It shows in the colors I’ve been using to paint the walls here.

  2. Love your posts….and your beautiful photos….as for the choices offered I’m going for an art studio, with the idea that photography, reading and writing might all also be nurtured in such a light filled space….we can all dream 🙂

    1. I think having both or somehow combining the choices is the popular choice, Seonaid. The best choice, too, as far as I’m concerned. We all need a place to dream those dreams. 🙂

  3. I love the blues too, and greens, as long as I don’t wear them! Oh, I misunderstood that question about the quote. I thought it was asking for “at least” one favorite quote, not the “least favorite”. Oops, think I responded to Carol incorrectly. I agree that in the fall, some of the browns are quite beautiful too. Those popovers, whether with ice cream or fruit, look delicious. 🙂

    1. Ooops! I got it wrong, Cathy. Yikes. So much for my editing skills. Thank you for mentioning it or I would never have realized it. I’d better get up there and at least put a note explaining my mistake. Thanks again! 🙂

      1. Oh, Robin, I wasn’t sure who got it wrong, you or Carol, as I haven’t done Cee’s sharing in over a year. I just knew I had just read Carol’s post about her favorite quotes and then I came to yours and you wrote about your least favorite quote. I was a little confused. 🙂

  4. Ah, Robin, the orples love to share, almost as much as they love to play, and they’ve been admiring the possibilities among all of your beautiful postings as to where to start, in the meantime if you’d like to show the world, that you, too, are an orple-keeper, please feel free to stop by and pick up a badge. By the way, that eagle flying solo would be the perfect shot for that minimalist challenge The Daily Post extended last week. And I love that mushroom, too. Such fun!

    1. Thank you, Eliza. 🙂 The eagles are amazing. Before we moved here, I never thought of eagles as being playful (although the question now comes to mind, “why not?”). They make all kinds of whistles and chirps and chatter as they do sky acrobatics.

  5. Such a lovely read! I love blues too – and greens and everything that sits between the two on the colour line. Anything that reminds me of water in fact! Not at all greedy – in fact I thought the perfect response to an either/or question – a reading nook in my art studio – yes please!

Your favourite quote is yet another one for my quotes book – thank you 🙂

  6. Lovely images, Robin, especially the blue ones! No wonder you love it.

Hmmm—my favorite color is definitely green–though I, too, am a huge fan of purple. And my favorite quote? “Be the change you want to see in the world.” And I love it more since reading your recent post!

    Hugs from Ecuador,

  7. Given a Tuesday holiday, my wife took a vacation day on Monday. It was a beautiful day for a walk, so off to the Cincinnati Nature Center we went to walk a trail. I thought of you … but we forgot our cameras.
