Greetings, waves of greetings, sliding back down into the inarticulate, words breaking together.
A crash of sorrow on the shores of Earth.
Waves of joy on–where? A world indescribably found, indescribably arrived at, indescribably wet, a song of water.
~ Douglas Adams

It’s been a while since I’ve participated in a WordPress Photo Challenge. This week’s is Summer Lovin’. There has been lots to love about this summer (except for the heat and humidity, of course). The beach is one of those places I love year round, but it’s in the summer that most folks come to worship at the shores of the sea.

Today’s images are from Sunday at the beach at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia.

I am the shore and the ocean, awaiting myself on both sides.

No visit to Assateague Island or the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is complete without a look at the ponies.

Summer was our best season: it was sleeping on the back screened porch in cots, or trying to sleep in the treehouse; summer was everything good to eat; it was a thousand colors in a parched landscape…

Thank you for dropping in today, and joining me in a little summer love. As regular readers know, it’s not my favorite season, but I do appreciate the gifts it brings, including all the wonderful vegetables and fruits that are currently gracing our table.

Be good, be kind, be loving. Just Be. 🙂

Today’s joys: A beautiful breeze; a good day’s work; loads of tomatoes from the garden; laundry hanging on the line outside to dry in the wind and sun; spending time with someone I love.
What a beautiful summer. 🙂

Marvelous images, one and all, but I think the favorite this time was the sunset.

Summer is my favorite season. Other favorites are Spring and Fall and even Winter. Most of the time anyway. Love the beach shots..love the horses…just love it all!

Virtually any time is a good time for the beach (except when the cold winds of winter rip hard across your body) – these are lovely.

Thank you, Karma. 🙂 I don’t mind the cold winds of winter, but I’m strange that way.

In terms of walking, there may not be a better place to walk than a good walking beach on a beautiful day.

What a wonderful set of pictures, Robin, especially the second one – I love how you caught the solitary gull(?) flying in the upper right corner, the feeling of distance and vastness contrasting with the closeness of the breaking waves. The pony in the last picture is so pretty. Assateague Island is such a mesmerizing beach…

Thank you, Barbara. 🙂 Yes, that is a gull, and I agree about Assateague Island. Mesmerizing is a good word for it.

I love foals. I wish Magi (I’ll leave a link) had been a foal when I got him. It certainly would have saved me a lot of time and aggravation in building trust. But we finally did build a wonderful relationship between horse and rider. It only took six years.
