How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting? Or not so exciting but worth a mention?
I watched the sun go down, and the moon rise. I mowed, because mowing is an almost everyday thing here at the ranch. I took a walk on the beach, and I watched the World Cup final.
All in all, it was a good weekend. A great balance of work, play, and relaxation.
M and I went to Chincoteague Island in Virginia yesterday to hang out on the beach and watch the latest NASA rocket launch from Wallops. We gathered on the bay side with a few hundred other people and marveled at the flash from the rocket and the sonic boom that washed over us.
We learned one important lesson yesterday. Do not go to Chincoteague on a Sunday. They must have Sunday to Sunday beach house/condo rentals because the line of traffic going to the island was miles long and at a standstill when we left around 2:00 PM. We got stuck in our own line of traffic going out, mostly because of all the folks still trying to leave the NASA visitors center after the rocket launch.
The ocean waves were playful yesterday. Too small, really, for surfing of any kind, but lively enough to make them frothy and fun.
The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.

The weather continues to be hot (90’s) and humid. Even the breeze has a little trouble with the thick air. That’s what makes visits to the beach so wonderful. The temperature is usually at least ten degrees cooler, and the sea breeze and ocean are always cooling.
Well, that’s about it from the Wabi-Sabi Ranch for today. Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope Monday has been kind to you, and provided you with a few refreshing moments. I was going to suggest meeting at the Point for sunset, but it’s so hazy that I’m not sure sunset will be worth the trip down there. Not that it’s all that far (about three miles), but last time I was there the bugs were pretty horrible. The air was hot and wet and still, just the way the bugs like it. I suspect it will be the same today. Maybe we should watch it from the comfort of the screened in porch.
Be good, be kind, be loving. Just Be. 🙂
Today’s joys: Talking with my father this afternoon; a pot of rooibus tea; the support of friends; a lovely morning meditation; time to sit on the porch and enjoy the breeze.
Beautiful post, Robin, and especially your photo of the Super moon. So glad you got to see the launch, too. Your beach photos remind me how much I miss spending mornings walking on the beach- not so secluded at C. Island this time of year, but only a few more weeks before the crowds move on. Best wishes, WG

You’re doing well at the ranch! So much better than when you first moved here.
We have the same traffic issues heading out to Colonial Williamsburg at this time of the year. The weekend traffic going to and from Virginia Beach is along the same highway and it’s just terrible. We have taken side roads and they move pretty well, but it just makes it a longer and more frustrating day. The last few years, we’ve just stopped going to Williamsburg in the summer (the head and humidity encourage that also).
Thanks for the pictures – as always, I enjoyed seeing them.

Loved the wave shots. There’s just something about water that does it for me!

It must have been something to see, and feel, that rocket launch. I have always wanted to experience one. Love the beach pics (always a fan of water!).

Thank you, Mike. 🙂 The rocket launches are pretty cool. We’re lucky to live so close to Wallops Island. This was our third or fourth rocket launch. Sometimes we can watch from home.

Sigh…..I can’t go to the beach and sit still for long. But if it was easily accessible I think I would use it to walk, and sit long enough to smell, dream and stare at all of the places I think the water has been and all of the things it has seen.

That sounds like the best way to use the beach, CM. 🙂

Sounds like a great way to spend your weekend. The moon, the rocket, the beach – all look like a lot of fun. Need a little adventuring around here. Humidity and scattered t-storms have moved in here for a few days- is it possible to have cabin fever in the summer? Lol!

Yes, you can have cabin fever in the summer … I have been trapped inside by weeks of rain and tons of bugs … I feel your need to get out.

Thank you, Karma. 🙂 I agree with Bearyweather. I frequently get cabin fever in the summer (although for me it’s due to the heat and humidity).

Pictures of a beautiful weekend … I am glad you shared them so that I get to experience them without the crowds or the heat and humidity (we don’t agree with each other at all).
We are being blessed (farmers would say cursed) with a cool summer … last two days 40’s at night and 60’s during the day. I love it, but we will probably pay for it with heat and humidity in August (or hopefully not September when school starts again).
