Shall we liken Christmas to the web in a loom? There are many weavers, who work into the pattern the experience of their lives. When one generation goes, another comes to take up the weft where it has been dropped. The pattern changes as the mind changes, yet never begins quite anew. At first, we are not sure that we discern the pattern, but at last we see that, unknown to the weavers themselves, something has taken shape before our eyes, and that they have made something very beautiful, something which compels our understanding.
~ Earl W. Count, 4,000 Years of Christmas

Rather than bah-humbug about the lack of decorations in my home, I went out to admire nature’s seasonal handiwork. We don’t have snow, but we do have mistletoe.

Reds and greens abound.

I’m almost ready for our family Christmas celebration. The gifts are all wrapped. Surprises have been tucked in where they need to be tucked in, and cards are signed and sealed.

I’ve been cleaning house and doing the laundry today. Tomorrow I’ll start packing for the trip back to the Bogs. The clan is gathering at our old home this weekend for an early Christmas celebration. They have snow there now, but I think I’m going to miss it. It’s going to warm up and rain. The snow will be gone, or mostly gone, by the time I arrive.

Here on the Eastern Shore, the weather is beautiful. Sunny with a few puffy clouds floating by. It’s warming up, too. The weather folks are forecasting high’s near 70 by Friday or Saturday. Between here and the Bogs, the travel weather looks fairly decent. The rain on Friday and Saturday is not great, but it’s better than trying to get through the mountains of Pennsylvania when there’s snow.

I reckon that’s it from the Wabi-Sabi Ranch for today. Thank you for stopping by. Looks like we’ll be experiencing another beautiful sunset this evening. I’m thinking about driving down to the Point to watch it. Meet you there.

Be good, be kind, be loving. Just Be. 🙂

P.S. I’m decorating the blog a bit, too. The header is from January of 2012, taken in the Bogs during a lovely snowstorm.
Wow! The colours of the sunset are amazing.

Best holiday decorations ever. (Such a perfect little “snowy” tree – and those golden tassels…practicing winter solstice dances?)
Love the little bird header

Thank you, Frank. 🙂 And thank you for the invite to the holiday bash. I don’t think I’ll be able to attend. I’m taking a blogging break to spend time with family and friends. But if I get a chance, I’ll peek in because I know you always throw a great party. 😀

A sneak would be wonderful .. Just so you know, it will go live very early on Saturday, so it will be up and running by your morning.

i had never seen mistletoe in trees till coming to Normandy where it abounds. Not really a good thing as it is a parasite! There is nothing lovelier than sunsets and sunrises and yours are always spectacular. Safe travels and joy of family being together to you.

It poured all day here in southern Ohio. Our creek was swollen. It’s a nice geographical feature when that happens. It’s far down at the bottom of our hill, so we don’t worry about flooding. I’m sorry you missed the snow. It all washed away here. Hope you’re having a nice celebration.
