At the end of the day

At the end of the day, let there be no excuses, no explanations, no regrets.

Sunsets this time of year seem longer to me than at any other time of the year.  Maybe that’s because most of Mother Nature’s colors end up in the sky now that pretty much all of the leaves have fallen, and there are no flowers blooming.  The colors can be so intense and amazing that time stops, or at the very least, slows down.

What's this? There ARE some flowers blooming. I found these yesterday near the deck stairs.

Well, okay.  There are a few sheltered flowers going a little crazy and blooming this late in the season, but not many.

At the end of the day, all you can hope for is to go on.  The older I get, the more I realize that just keeping on keeping on is what life’s all about.

It’s near the end of another day here at the Wabi-Sabi Ranch.  We were gifted with a beautiful, clear, sunny day.  The morning started out frosty, and the temperature didn’t get any higher than 40, but it was a lovely day for a walk around the ranch.

I spent some time out in the woods, listening to and watching the birds.  A Bald Eagle flew overhead.  I knew something was up when the crows began making a ruckus, but thought at first they might be warning everyone about the hawk I heard whistling in the distance.  Then I saw the eagle.  They are such beautiful, majestic birds.  It flew out along the creek for a while, probably looking for lunch.

At the end of the day the question comes, what are you doing for the world?  You have to try to do something that’s going to add something positive.

That’s about it from the Wabi-Sabi Ranch for today.  Thank you for visiting, and watching the sunset at Assateague with me.  The images are from Saturday’s visit to the island.  I’ll be going out to the dock in a little while to see what kind of sunset we’re going to have today.  Feel free to join me out there.  Bundle up.  It’s going to be a clear and cold evening, the kind of evening when the stars really twinkle at the end of the day.

  1. These sunset skies are different from the usual that I see. There is movement there. The skies are home to living things. That’s the feeling I get as I look at the images. They’re beautiful, Robin, as are the thoughts about our days here. I enjoyed this post very much.

  2. Beautiful sunset pictures! I never make it out to photograph the sunset because that’s time to cook dinner….and I miss all the sunrises, too, because that’s time to get the kids ready for school.

    1. Thank you, Michaela. 🙂 That’s usually the case with me, too, but sunset comes early here in the winter (around 4:40) so I have time to run out and have a look before starting dinner.
