Storytellers

Revealed
Listen

A woman once described a friend of hers as being such a keen listener that even the trees leaned toward her, as if they were speaking their innermost secrets to her listening ears.  Over the years I’ve envisioned that woman’s silence, a hearing full and open enough that the world told her its stories.  The green leaves turned toward her, whispering tales of soft breezes and the murmurs of leaf against leaf.

She finished a 365 commitment to get outside every day in 2011, and has turned it into a lifelong commitment taking one or more walks each day. Robin and her husband are in the midst of renovating the house and property they refer to as the Wabi-Sabi Ranch, 35 acres that include marsh, a dock on a tidal creek, meadows, and woodlands. Every day brings new discoveries.

  1. Thank you all for your lovely comments. I’ve thought about this quote a lot since I posted it. Imagine, the trees telling you their stories. What a wonderful thing that would be. 🙂
