Cee’s Share Your World — 2013 Week 23

One of the reasons I took a little break from blogging is because I feel as though I have little to say.  This time of the year, that’s usually the case.  I associate summer more with doing than with thinking.  There is always work to be done in the house, in the garden, and around the property.  That was as true in the Bogs as it is here on the Eastern Shore.  Being in action mode, I don’t contemplate as much, and that leaves me with little to write about other than the usual daily walk, something that grows dull when I don’t have much to add to “I went for a walk today.”  I don’t know about you but I enjoy variety and mixing things up once in a while.

I have been wanting to participate in Cee’s Share Your World, so this seems like a good time to do so.  The questions for Week 23 start with:

Are you mostly a clean or messy person?

Hmmm.  Well.  A little of both, at least when it comes to my home.  I do keep things clean, but it can get cluttered and disorganized from time to time.  Then, when it’s time to clean, I neaten everything up.  There are certain activities in which I am messy rather than neat.  Painting is one of them.  That’s why I never, ever do the delicate, need-a-steady-hand, type of painting (the edge work, basically), and I always use lots of drop cloths.  I can’t draw a straight line, either, or cut in a straight line with scissors (or any other cutting implement).  I don’t know what that says about me, but there you have it.  I am crooked (but not a crook).

As a kid was there any kind of candy that you didn’t like to get?  How about now?

It was this question that drew me in because just a day or two ago I noticed a box of Mary Jane’s while waiting in line at the store, and I mentioned to M that I was surprised to see they still make them.  Mary Jane’s were the dreaded candies, the kind I didn’t want to find in my Halloween bag after a night of trick or treating.  Mary Jane candies are a mix of peanut butter and molasses.  I have never been a fan of molasses.  It’s an ingredient I always taste immediately no matter how small the amount in any recipe.  As for now, anything with molasses is still high on the list of Don’t Like To Get.  And hard candies are usually a bad idea because I have this terrible habit of trying to bite into them rather than wait and let them dissolve in my mouth.  That’s not good for the teeth (says the woman with crowns on a couple of her teeth as a result of chewing on ice cubes and biting hard candies).

Do you believe in extraterrestrials or life on other planets?

Young Ellie:  Dad, do you think there’s other people on other planets?
Ted Arroway: I don’t know, Sparks. But I guess I’d say if it is just us… seems like an awful waste of space.

That pretty well sums it up for me, too.

Have your blogging goals changed?

No, I don’t think they have.  I have changed, but my blogging has always been a diary of sorts, a way of sharing my life with friends and family.  Never mind that family doesn’t read my blog.  I’m very much OK with that.  I’ve made new friends through blogging, an unexpected side-effect.  I’m very much OK with that, too.

That wraps things up for this week’s Share Your World.  Click on the link to go to Cee’s for the guidelines if you’d like to participate.  Thanks, Cee.  That was fun.

Thank you for visiting.  All the photos used in today’s post are from my trip back to the Bogs of Ohio.

The prairie roses are a favorite of mine.
Since you’re learning a little about me today, I will tell you that the prairie roses are a favorite of mine.

Be good, be kind, be loving.  Just Be.  🙂

  1. MMmmmmm yummmm. Wonderful shots. I want to just gobble up that day lily. I’ve been snackin’ on those for weeks. They’re almost done here. The petals are like a sweet lettuce.

    Great quote from Contact.

  2. I was just sitting here thinking that I’d like to write a blog today but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to write about. Thanks for the reminder about Cee. I especially love the dragonfly and the bees on the coneflowers.

    1. Thank you, Bearyweather. 🙂 I noticed that, too, when I looked at the photos from the Bogs after coming back to the Eastern Shore. There’s a quality to those images that I can’t seem to achieve when I take photos here. It’ll happen in time.

  3. Thank you for sharing this little extra glimpse into your thoughts of life, and the beautiful photography to go with it! It was especially interesting to read that most of your family doesn’t read your blog — I wonder why that tends to be the case? I mean, none of my family reads mine, either, and I don’t mind really — I just wonder about it. Beautiful bonus picture of the dragonfly!

    1. Thank you, Becky. 🙂 My theory on why my family doesn’t read my blog is because they either already know what’s going on in my life (so they don’t need to read about it), or they are so busy living their lives that they just don’t have time. Either way, or another way, I’m okay with the fact that they don’t read it. 😀

      1. Oh gosh, Robin, my kids have asked me stuff like, “Have you learned to use your camera yet? I was hoping you could take a picture of such-and-such…” Then I would ask, “Do you EVER look at my blog?” Lol, I used to mind, but any more I just tell them, “Yes, I think I can muddle through taking a picture.”
