The rains have finally moved out after dumping close to another two inches of water on us. Everything is well watered now.
Clouds were left behind to decorate the sky. A variety of different cloud personalities float overhead throughout the day. Some are gray and gloomy. Others look threatening, but move on without incident. My favorites are the big white, puffy clouds that look like towers rising upwards. The wisps, feathers, and little puffs have a certain charm to them, too.

I sat on the porch during the early evening hours yesterday and watched the birds. It was quite a colorful show.
Blue Birds, Indigo Buntings, American Goldfinches, and a Baltimore Oriole showed up. I didn’t catch the Indigo Buntings or the Goldfinches. They were too swift and playful, their colors a blur across the landscape.
The Eastern Kingbird rules this particular perch. Kingbirds are very territorial and will defend their space and nests against larger predators such as hawks, crows, and even squirrels. He looks pretty serious, doesn’t he?
I spent a few hours today painting Bedroom 3. I was not very smart about it. The room was not as well ventilated as it should have been, and I ended up feeling dizzy and a little sick. I am going to leave the rest of the painting until the cooler months when the windows can be opened (without letting in hot air). Many deep breaths of fresh (hot) air later, I’m feeling fine, but I don’t want to do that again.

We met on the 4th of July a short and long time ago. It’s been 38 years since we met at the Jersey Shore, but sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday.

ah Robin, I’m too late to wish both you and M happy Anniversary of your meeting. (better late than never always springs to mind. but it still doesn’t feel the same ) I’m not much of a decorator, I’m the helper, my other half does all the intricate work with wallpaper, I can wield a handy paint brush tho’ if you’re in need of one. 🙂 I never tire of watching birds, so your photo’s just hit the spot. Nice photos. I could not help looking at the birds feet .. we call it sitting … however, how could that possibly be comfortable? 😉
Climate difference … you have gorgeous ripe raspberries. The wild raspberries around my house are in the flowering stage. The strawberries at the local pick your own farms are 2-3 weeks late this year due to the fact winter lasted until May.

I know, Bearyweather. When I looked at these photos, I thought the same thing. The bluebird looks as if he’s being poked.
I’m amazed at the climate difference, even between here and northeast Ohio. The fruit and veggies I associate with late August are already in season here. Everything has come in so fast and soon, that I miss most of the good stuff because it takes me a while to figure out what I’m seeing IS local and not shipped in from Florida, California, or Mexico.

Happy Meeting Anniversary. Well .. I know ours was sometime in September 1974 …. meanwhile, the swath of rain has delivered several days of off-on rain from the south the past several days …. and I think the pattern will continue.

I can spend too much time on Pinterest, but I find it suits my brain power real well at 3 am when I can’t sleep. I also like that I can pin things there of specific interest to me and then find them again later.
