Another rise and fall

Clouds over Back Creek
Clouds over Back Creek

When we look up, it widens our horizons, we see what a little speck we are in the universe, so insignificant, and we all take ourselves so seriously, but in the sky, there are no boundaries.  No differences of caste or religion or race.

What happens when you clear away the multi-flora roses and the honeysuckle.

One of the things I’ve noticed about summer so far, here on the Eastern Shore, is that the air is always moving.  Sure, it’s hot (in the 90’s) outside.  The air is so thick you wear it.  But there’s a breeze stirring it up, and the breeze makes it not as bad as it could be.

Yesterday the clouds raced across the sky, following the wind.  They are doing the same today.

Yesterday I wasn’t sure we’d see the moon rise.  The clouds thickened for a little while.

Thinning out.
Thinning out.

The breeze dies down at sunset, and the mosquitoes come out.  Deer fly season, by the way, is not over.  They were out in force while I was waiting for the sun to set and the moon to rise.

The main show appeared to be the sunset, until the moon finally showed up.

True and lasting wonder needs to be renewed regularly, even daily.  Otherwise, life’s inevitable formula will be:  Wonderful is followed by wonder-half-full, which is followed by wonder-quarter-full, which quickly becomes wonder-less.  If you want your capacity for awe as wide as the sky, you must take preventative action.  Otherwise, you’ll end up as a wonderless wanderer and life will cease to be a joyful adventure.

Every time I see the moon, I stare in wonder.

Well, you’ve probably had enough of the super moon by now.  I know there are better photos than mine all over the internet.  I have two more shots I want to show you so you can see what I saw when the clouds moved back in.

Thank you so much for stopping by and watching the sunset and moon rise with me again.  It was a beautiful evening, don’t you think?

  1. Finding floral treasures hidden in the overgrowth is almost as much fun as finding photos to take .. it is the best of both worlds because you can take pictures of your floral finds. Nice Moon 😉

  2. I love the pink flower that appeared after clearing out the honeysuckle & multipolar roses. The moonshots are exquisite, and with the returning clouds, mystifying. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Fabulous moon pictures! In the first one, it looks as though the trees are holding the moon up, cradling it. The moon and cloud pictures are wonderful — how fortuitous that the clouds moved in when they did so you could show us such lovely pictures! Your wonderful pictures don’t show all the hard work you go through to get these pictures on here each time — thank you so much!!

  4. Lucky you! What awesome pictures you got of that moon. I didn’t even see it this time around. That color as it was rising is really something.

  5. I never tire of seeing the Moon, Robin, and your photo’s are great, of the sunsets too, and your comment gave me pause for thought, ‘so thick you wear it.’ now that’s something I have never experienced, but it’s so graphic. Hope your cold has packed and gone. happy new trails xPenx
