The plan was to write about how wonderful the light is here on the Eastern Shore, especially when it’s combined with humidity, but as I sat here staring out the window and  thinking about how to start this post, I saw my first wild turkey.  I sometimes think I have one of  the best views in the world right outside the window to the right of my desk.

I’ve seen storm clouds roll in, the pinks and purples of sunset, the wind dancing in the trees and shrubs, birds of all kinds (many of whom I have not yet identified), rabbits, deer, snakes, and now a wild turkey.  It’s much better than television, if you ask me.

I’m afraid you may see far too much of this tree as it’s captured my attention. An enchantment of some kind, perhaps.

I am not a fan of heat and humidity, as you probably know.  Tropical Storm Andrea brought both, and the air is thick.  At sunrise and sunset, this creates some amazing light.

Ensorcell

It was foggy this morning.  I was supposed to show you that, too, but I’m still caught up in yesterday’s sunset when M and I sat on the deck watching the sparkle and shimmer of the light in the grasses and behind the trees.  The shadows and silhouettes joined the dance, providing contrast and relief.  All that light can be blinding.  Sometimes the eyes need to rest in the shadows.

It would not be too difficult to imagine that there were elves and fairies out there, too.

I think I see a fairy trying to peer around the tree.

That’s about it from the Wabi-Sabi Ranch for this hot and humid Sunday.  I hope your weekend was sprinkled with light and shadows, play and pauses.
