The whole thing

We’re having our first guests here at the Wabi-Sabi Ranch this weekend.  The house is still a mess with a great deal left to unpack and organize, but when our friends called and asked if we were up for company this weekend, I did not hesitate to say, “Yes!”

M and I have good friends who have lived in the Annapolis (Maryland) area for many years.  They were on the plus side when we were making lists of the positives and negatives of moving to the Eastern Shore.  Annapolis is only about 2 hours or so from where we’re living now.  I am looking forward to seeing them.

A large Black Rat Snake lives in this box. Don’t worry. They’re not venomous and they eat lots of rodents.

If you have good friends, no matter how much life is sucking, they can make you laugh.

Tree bones

Life is not sucking at the moment.  I’ve managed to get a few things in order this week.  A lot of our stuff is going into storage in the attic.  It would be easier to get rid of it, but I’m not the only decision maker around here.  I figure we can put it up there, forget about it, and do something about it a year or so from now.  At least it’s out of the way.

A tangle of branches

Bedroom 3, as we’re referring to it, is cleaned up enough that our friends will be able to sleep in there if they decide to stay the night.  That meant putting my clothing away.  As I was hanging things in what is now my closet, I gave a great deal of thought to how much clothing I need.  Although I did donate a lot before the move, I could stand to lighten up this load even more.

I am thinking about incorporating these colors, the greens and greenish-grays, into our home.

For instance, I don’t think I will need nearly as many sweaters and sweatshirts as I needed in the Bogs.  And the thermal underwear?  Probably not useful here at all.

Some of that will end up stored in the attic.  Should we decide at some future date to move back to the Bogs, sweaters, sweatshirts, and thermal underwear might come in handy.

Well, that’s about it from the Wabi-Sabi Ranch for today.  Thanks for stopping by.  I am thrilled to be able to tell you that the air conditioning was fixed yesterday.  It was originally scheduled for today, but the company had a cancellation and I jumped at the chance to have it done a day early when they called to ask.  The atmosphere in the house is much improved.  It’s improving outside as well.  A cold front moved through this afternoon, and cooled things off.

Before the air conditioning was fixed, the cats spent all their time seeking a breeze and shade.
