Happiness. Simple as a glass of chocolate or tortuous as the heart. Bitter. Sweet. Alive.
~ Joanne Harris, Chocolat
Is it May already? Where has the time gone? Even this week is going by quickly. I swear it was Monday just a minute ago.
I’m feeling a little sad today, and I realized it’s not a sadness about leaving Breezy Acres. It’s a sadness about moving away from my children and grandchildren. Leaving them is so much harder than leaving the land that I’ve come to know and love.
A thought is harmless unless we believe it. It’s not our thoughts, but our attachment to our thoughts, that causes suffering. Attaching to a thought means believing that it’s true, without inquiring. A belief is a thought that we’ve been attaching to, often for years.
~ Byron Katie, Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life
The thing I have to remember is that this move does not mean never, ever seeing them all again. In fact, we are likely to see everyone for longer stretches of time than we do now. Being located near the beach has its advantages. You know what they say: Location, location, location.
Enough about that. Let’s go look at the apple blossoms. The tree near the back left corner of the pond is blooming lavishly this year.
Love is the flower of life, and blossoms unexpectedly and without law, and must be plucked where it is found, and enjoyed for the brief hour of its duration.
~ D. H. Lawrence
The weather is warm and wonderful here in the Bogs today. We’ve had abundant sunshine, blue skies, and a nice breeze to tone down the warmth a little.
Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
~ Marcel Proust
It’s a perfect day to practice gratitude. Nothing sweeps away sadness like taking the time to be thankful for the gifts that life offers.
It is time for me to go back to work. Thank you so much for stopping by, for commenting, and for all your support during this big change in my life. And thank you, too, for stopping to look at the blossoms with me. They don’t last long. Before we know it, the petals will be blown about by the wind, imitating a spring snowstorm. There is beauty in that, too.
Be good, be kind, be loving. Just Be. 🙂
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find
it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall
see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.~ Khalil Gibran
There are so many places I want to go. So many other places I would choose to live. But I can’t take them all with me. Though if I moved to the beach…they would come more often! 🙂

I just love the little trio of ducks by your pond Robin. My duck visitors haven’t been around for a couple of weeks now, but that’s what they do, they come and go, all part of the freedom of their lives. You have chosen great words for the different thoughts of the apple blossoms too. They too are changing, just as your life is, and change always brings bittersweet thoughts.

The sunshine made all of your photos today warm and bright … “Bittersweet” … a great word to describe your obvious mixed emotions about your life changes. I wish for you more sweetness as your move progresses.

I love your Spring Glow and Shy photos, but of course, as always, I really love them all. Thanks for sharing them. Don’t be too sad; what you say about your prime location is so true. Your family will come to visit, more often and for longer times! I love the Khalil Gibran quote. 🙂

The Khalil Gibran quote deeply resonates with me today, Robin. Moving away from children or having our children move away from us is indeed sad and difficult, but in some ways the visits seem all the more precious when they come less frequently and last a little longer. I’ve been eyeing the day moon (in your header image) these past few days, too. Loving the “spring glow.”
