Usually, when the distractions of daily life deplete our energy, the first thing we eliminate is the thing we need the most: quiet, reflective time. Time to dream, time to contemplate what’s working and what’s not, so that we can make changes for the better.
~ Sarah Breathnach
It is a quiet day here in the Bogs. The snow has been silently twirling around as winter continues to party into spring.
I did go out for my daily walk and find some appreciation for the cold, the ice, and the snow. But back indoors, with a fire going in the fireplace, I find myself dreaming of warmer weather.
It doesn’t even have to be sunny and warm. Or even all that warm. Just warm enough that I don’t have to put on several layers of clothing to go outside. Just warm enough that I don’t need a hat or gloves.
Oh, who am I kidding? This is my daydream. It can be anything I want. And what I want is a nice, warm, sunny day at the beach. One day will do. Salt air, sunlight sparkling on the water, and my feet buried in the sand while I listen to the waves roll in.
I’d like to go for a swim, too.
Perhaps do a little body surfing.
Or lay back and float, bobbing up and down with the waves.
The beach is not a place to work; to read, write or to think.
~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Gift from the Sea
My day is done, and I am like a boat drawn on the beach, listening to the dance-music of the tide in the evening.
~ Rabindranath Tagore, Stray Birds
I’d like to take a long walk along the shore, at sunrise and at sunset.
Maybe collect a few shells.
Ah well. That was nice. For now, it’s time to head back to the wintry spring here in the Bogs. There is work to be done, and projects that need finished. It was a lovely daydream, one I can return to another day. I feel ready to get back to reality after that little vacation of the mind.
Reverie is not a mind vacuum. It is rather the gift of an hour which knows the plenitude of the soul.
~ Gaston Bachelard
Thank you for joining me for a daydream at the beach. I hope it was as warming and refreshing for you as it was for me.
Wishing you a joyful, magical, filled-with-love, weekend! See you next week. 🙂
I love the first quote, Robin! A space to just *be* is so important but so easy to overlook or outright neglect.
I enjoyed your beach day fantasy, too. There are no beaches here in the desert (not that I’ve found yet… unless you count the vast swaths of sand with no water cascading in!), but I will at least enjoy some warmth on your behalf today. It’s another super hot day here (by my standards– maybe in the mid-80s?), and I only have a few more of them to enjoy before heading back up to the rain in Victoria. 🙂

Thank you, Dana, especially for enjoying some warmth on my behalf. 🙂 I know it means a lot to you too, since you’ll be heading back north. Mid-80s? Wow! That IS warm.

I always find a walk along a beach, particularly at sunrise or sunset, wonderfully peaceful and calming for the mind. Maybe it’s the warm sand between my toes and the lullaby of the lapping waves on the seashore.
Lovely photos, Robin 🙂

Oh my goodness, that was just what I needed! I am so sick of winter, yet there’s not a sign of spring here at the moment. Hope making this entry rejuvenated you too. 🙂 Have a great weekend, my friend. x

Thank you, Nickie! Glad you enjoyed it. It did rejuvenate me. In fact, I’m still pretending my feet are burying their way in the sand while I sit on the beach and watch those waves roll in. Love & hugs & wishing you a great weekend, too! 🙂

I believe it, Nancy! We had snow here yesterday and today. More coming on Monday (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). I just have to assume Mother Nature knows what she’s doing. Glad you enjoyed the walk on the beach. 🙂

Your beach daydream was lovely, Robin. I especially love the photo of the sunset on the beach. I on the other was daydreaming of bundling up and going for a walk through the snow, and then cozying up by the fire. 🙂 You can come visit me in Oman any time of day for nice warm (HOT) beach days. 🙂

lol, Cathy! Funny how we want what we don’t have. I must admit, though, that HOT is not very appealing to me. Even in the midst of this wintry spring, warm would be good enough. 🙂
Thank you!

I love the tiny jewels of color under the shell. So often we don’t look at things. We glance. We pass over. But don’t take the time to see all of the beautiful things in our world. I’m glad you stop for them, and give them to us.

You caught me with the cat-nap photo, Robin, and then enticed me with the warmth of summer days by the seashore. .. Oh Summer, wrap me in your arms, keep me close by your side. I long so much for warmer climes, … snow and rain ’tis your turn to be denied …
Took me out of my snow filled day Robin, and transported me to experience your dream of Summer xPenx

Wonderful daydream! I’d love to be sinking my toes into the sand in just about any of those photos you posted. The reflection shot from your pond in the summer is lovely too. I was considering heading outside to see if I could find any signs of spring to write about for a blog post today, but the wind is blustering and the temperature is still in the 30’s. Maybe I should take a tip from you and post about what I wish it was like today! So much for March going out like a lamb!
