There was a green house.
Inside the green house there was a white house.
Inside the white house there was a red house.
Inside the red house there were lots of babies.
Figured it out? It doesn’t really have much to do with this post other than it starts with a green house.
Work around the Wabi-Sabi Ranch has continued in between trips. M has been clearning out the greenhouse, and I promised you a look.
I thought I should remind you of what it looked like before I show you the “after” pictures. We still have repairs to do and a bit more cleaning, but it’s coming along nicely.
The first thing we had to do was clear out the growth of vines and weeds surrounding and growing inside of the greenhouse. Once that was done, there was the trash to contend with:
Anyone need any plastic? We have plenty of it piled up, ready to be picked up by the man we found who will help us with the big clean-up when we’re ready. (We still have one more outbuilding to clean out before that will happen.)
It’s not all rubbish. We found a few things in there we can use. The Milk bucket is now the home of baby lettuces growing on the deck. Since we’re not ready to full-out garden this year, I thought it would be easier to have a deck garden in pots (or buckets) since we inherited so many pots (and buckets) with the house. I have a sink I plan to use as a planter, too, but that will need some work so I’m saving that for next year.
While I show you the remaining photos I have of the greenhouse, I’ll tell you about the weekend. I went to New Jersey to visit my father and some of my siblings.
We had a really nice visit, and I think I’m going to like being not so far away from them. 180 miles is a lot better than 480.
The traffic, however, is not so great. Fortunately, the bulk of it was going in the opposite direction. On Friday, when we left here, most people were going south, heading to the beaches (opposite of the way we were going), and yesterday people were trying to get home (heading north rather than south). I couldn’t believe the line of backed-up traffic going north yesterday. It was backed-up for over 60 miles. I hope we never have to head north on a Sunday during the summer.
Back to the greenhouse… As you can see, it’s looking pretty good in there now. There’s a fan, a light, and power. Everything works. We are going to have to repair the roof (damaged during Superstorm Sandy last year).
That should do it from the Wabi-Sabi Ranch on this rainy Monday. Thank you so much for stopping by, and having a look at the much-improved condition of the greenhouse. We should be able to do some super-duper gardening next year.
Be good, be kind, be loving. Just Be. :)
